HOPE (Helping Our Planet Earth) Club

Advisors:  Mr. Lenhart and Mrs. Frost

The HOPE club is offered to any Boardman Glenwood Junior High School student in grades 7 and 8 with a particular interest in the environment and overall desire to help and be more involved in nature. The club focuses on reducing the impact our school has on the environment through various recycling efforts within the school while trying to create awareness of this impact to the whole student body. Students are guided in determining the direction of the club and the activities it participates in. Meeting times and places vary according to the students’ and club’s needs and availability. Students take on a large responsibility for collecting and reducing waste in and out of the school. Students have also undertaken an exemplary project in transforming the school’s courtyard into a wildflower garden.

HOPE Club Lasagna Garden

Since the beginning of the year the members of HOPE Club have been hard at work creating our very own "Lasagna Garden," which will be used to plant various plants over the years to come.

A "Lasagna Garden" is created by using layers of various materials to create an area of rich soil perfect for a garden.  The final product happens without any digging or tilling!!
