Summer school at Glenwood Jr. High is kicking it up a notch this year! ☀️🔬🤖
Students are strengthening skills in the classroom while also diving into hands-on, project-based learning with special guest instructors.
This week, Superintendent Chris Neifer and his wife, a BHS grad and local chemistry teacher Amy Neifer, challenged students to think like scientists. Students grew crystals and tackled a water filtration challenge, using dirty pond water, sand, rocks, cotton, and coffee filters to see who could create the clearest water. The activities encouraged teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving while making science fun and engaging.
And there's more to come!
🔹 Mr. Harker will introduce students to robotics.
🔹 BHS teacher Mr. Popio will host students in the STEAM Lab for an IT building project.
🔹 Facilities Director Mr. Fonderlin will take students behind the scenes of major district projects, including the Spartan Stadium turf replacement and other construction improvements happening across Boardman Local Schools.
Summer learning is about more than academics—it's about exploring interests, building skills, and discovering how classroom lessons connect to the real world. Great things are happening at Glenwood this summer!

Talk about a GREAT Wednesday at Glenwood Junior High! 🎉👏
Students were celebrated this week for earning an incredible 17 perfect scores on this year’s state assessments — and the congratulations came with handshakes and high fives from Superintendent Chris Neifer, Curriculum Director Mr. Cardillo, and members of the Boardman Board of Education!
A highlight was recognizing eighth grader Cecilia Young who earned Glenwood’s FIRST-EVER perfect Science score on the state test , as her proud teacher Laura Frost stood nearby ! 🔬⭐
Math students were on fire this year too! Mrs. DePaola’s eighth grade Algebra students earned an amazingly large group of perfect scores, showing just how hard they worked all year long.
Perfect Math scores were also earned by eighth graders Dom and Sa’Mya with teachers Mrs. Gozur and Mrs. Mosora, along with seventh graders Audrey, Jeffrey, Maurelius, Nico, and Braden with teachers Mr. Barrett and Ms. Ebie. ➕📚
And also a 1st time, and great accomplishment in ELA, eighth graders Lauren Lyden and Elliot Simpson both earned perfect scores with teachers Mrs. Strines and Ms. Resch! ✍️📖
Congratulations to all of these outstanding students and teachers for representing Glenwood with excellence!

From the first smile in the morning to the final drop-off at home, our bus drivers are truly the bookends to a successful school day. They go above and beyond to ensure our students arrive safely, feel welcomed, and are cared for every step of the way.
We are blessed with the best! Join us in thanking our amazing transportation staff and help them feel the love today! 👏

Every day, our school lunch heroes go above and beyond to serve nutritious and tasty meals with a smile. Their hard work, dedication, and care do not go unnoticed—they are an essential part of our school community.
To show our appreciation, members of our Central Office team visited each cafeteria across all six of our buildings today to personally say “thank you” for all they do.
Not just today, but every single day, we thank you for keeping our students fueled, supported, and ready to learn! 💚🍎

A high-flying day for Boardman High School students at the Drone Showcase!
Students from the BHS Drone Program spent the day at Williamson Airfield, joining peers from 10 area schools for hands-on flight experience and career exploration.
They had the chance to pilot drones, connect with industry professionals, and ask questions about future opportunities. Students flew drones with the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Department and First Choice Drone Company, and also spoke with representatives from the U.S. Air Force about careers in aviation and technology.
Real-world learning in action—and the future is looking up!

What an amazing day for nearly 45 BHS and Glenwood Jr. High students!!
They spent most of the day --suited up with waders and muck boots to do a professional field study with Kent State Scientists who monitor more than 42 wetlands across Ohio.
We are so grateful for this Kent State partnership--their expertise is helping make the dream for education to continue on the very spot where Market Street Elementary School once stood.
This Forest Lawn Stormwater Park is now a place where the Kent State group along with student groups who've been prepared by their amazing classroom teachers for years, for this very day!!
So Exciting!! Watch for reports on WFMJ-21 and WKBN-27 tonight
